YouTube star Caleb Logan of the Bratayleys dies at 13
The star's family releases a statement on Instagram

MANILA, Philippines – Caleb Logan, part of the popular family the Bratayleys, which earned fame on YouTube, died last week of natural causes. He was 13 years old.

Update: His family has given an update on the cause of death via an October 6 Instagram post.

“Caleb’s death has raised many questions about how and why this could happen to a seemingly healthy boy. Sadly, tests have confirmed today that Caleb passed away from an undetected medical condition. We’ll have more definitive answers in the coming weeks but ask that you help us celebrate his life instead of focus on his death.”

Here is the post and the statement in full:

His mom, Annie, first announced the news on Instagram in a post dated Friday, October 2.

Yesterday at 7:08PM Caleb Logan Bratayley passed away of natural causes. This has come as a shock to all of us. Words cannot describe how much we will miss him. His incredibly funny, loving and wonderful spirit made us all fall in love with him as a YouTuber, friend, brother and son. We know you tune in to watch each day and eagerly anticipate new videos, but ask that you bear with us while we deal with this tragedy as a family. Please help us honor our, baked potato,” she wrote.

Maker Studio, the digital company that counts the family as one of their acts, also posted a message on Instagram

We are heartbroken at the tragic loss of Caleb from Bratayley, a beloved member of the Maker family. Our love, support, thoughts, and prayers are with the Bratayley family,” the company said.

The family posted Logan’s last video, with a statement.

It is with our deepest sorrow to report that the Instagram announcement was indeed true. In addition to our desire to give the Internet community the chance to begin the grieving process, we also wanted to post this video to show a healthy and happy Caleb doing what he loved.

“Thank you for all the love and support that everyone has shown our family. And we ask for continued love and support as we move through the grieving process.”

They also posted this video remembering Caleb:

Bratayley is not actually the family’s true surname. The family has been posting videos on their channel since 2010, sharing snippets of their daily lives and the children’s various antics. – Rappler.com
