WATCH: Solenn Heussaff, Dennis Trillo duet on ‘Overdrive’ for new movie ‘Lakbay2Love’
The music video is released early this November, to commemorate the second anniversary of super typhoon Yolanda

MANILA, Philippines – Actors Solenn Heussaff and Dennis Trillo joined forces  to record a new version of the Eraserheads song “Overdrive,” part of the campaign to promote their upcoming film Lakbay2Love as well as its message of environmental awareness.

But as viewers will see in the music video, the lyrics to the popular Eraserheads hit “Overdrive” have been changed to reflect biking instead of driving.

Biking features heavily in the film, as members of the cast and crew are enthusiasts of the activity, and through the film, viewers are transported into the Philippines’ lushly beautiful locations, including Benguet, San Mateo, Bulacan, Manila, and La Mesa Ecopark.

The latter, specifically, is special to the film’s director, Ellen Ongkeko-Marfil, who used to teach her son to bike at La Mesa Dam back in 2009.

“I got awed at this forest within the city and teared up when our guide told us that the earth is dying and how in 30 years, our children or grandchildren may no longer see wildlife… That’s when I swore to make a bike movie,” she said in a release.

After the devastating super typhoon Yolanda hit the Philippines in 2013, direk Ellen was more determined than ever to make the film.

The music video was recently released early this month, in time for the second anniversary of typhoon Yolanda.

In commemoration of the second year anniversary of Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) and as the primary thrust of our film, Lakbay2Love, we have created a music video featuring Dennis Trillo and myself singing ‘Overdrive’ by Eraserheads. But we have appropriated the lyrics of the song to coincide with the message of the film,” Solenn wrote on Instagram.

“We hope you can share it with your respective social circles as a way of honoring the victims of Yolanda and as a means to disseminate information and encourage action to be part of the solution.”

In the film, Lianne (Solenn), a French-Filipino videographer, is still hurting from a tough breakup, set around the time of Yolanda, and also dealing with loneliness and painful memories. To help her heal, a friend convinces her to take on a project centering on biking and the environment. She meets JR (Dennis), an environmentalist, and romance blooms.

The launch of the video also comes ahead of an important event to discuss the impact of climate change today: the 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP21) scheduled for November 30-December 11 in Paris, France. Representatives from all over the world are expected to converge to come up with solutions to important environmental issues.

Additionally, the film has partnered with the Firefly Brigade, which will hold its Tour of the Fireflies event on November 15, and with the Cordillera Conservation Trust. – Rappler.com
