Robin Padilla returns to ABS-CBN
MANILA, Philippines – We'll be seeing more of Robin Padilla on ABS-CBN, as the actor signed a contract with the network on Wednesday, December 9.
The actor did not renew his ABS-CBN contract in 2013, instead working on TV5 shows Talentadong Pinoy 2014 and 2 1/2 Daddies in 2014 and 2015.
According to ABS-CBN News, Robin's new contract includes a TV series where he will play a father.
“Palagay ko ay tamang tama sa edad ko. 'Yun ang matagal ko nang nire-request sa pamunuan ng ABS-CBN, na magkaroon ako ng project na naaayon sa edad ko. Hindi pa yata puwede sabihin [kung sino ang mga makakasama ko], pero family, tungkol sa pamilya, may anak tapos tatay ako,” he Robin told ABS-CBN News.
(I think it's right for my age. That's what I've been requesting from the leaders of ABS-CBN for a long time, that I have a project that is in line with my age. I can't say yet [who I'll be starring with], but family, it will be about family, there's a child and I'm the father.)
Robin is known to star in action movies, like Anak ni Baby Ama (1990) and Guns and Roses (2011). He was supposed to star in the 2015 Metro Manila Film Festival entry, Nilalang, but backed out to take care of his pregnant wife, Mariel Rodriguez-Padilla.
Robin also told ABS-CBN News that he never left the network, even though he worked with others: “Hindi ako umalis ng ABS. Ako ay nananatiling Kapamilya mula nang lumabas ako ng kulungan hanggang sa mga oras na masasabi nating nagpaalam ako," he said, referring to the time he was in jail for illegal weapons possession.
(I didn't leave ABS. I continued to be Kapamilya from the time I left jail to the time it could be said that I said goodbye to the network.)
"Saan mang lupalop ako napunta, ano mang istasyon, naka-report ako lagi sa mga matataas na boss natin kung ano ang ginagawa ko, kung ano ang gagawin ko," he continued.
(No matter where I went, what station, I always reported to our top bosses what I was doing and what I will do.)
On social media, Mariel expressed support for her husband.
She announced that he was signing with the network early on December 9, saying, "Finally going back to the network you belong to. Can't wait for the projects they have in store for you. the Action King is home!!!!"
