IN PHOTOS: ‘High School’ musical cast reunion

MANILA, Philippines – It’s been a while since we last saw Troy, Gabriella, Sharpay, and the rest of the gang on TV, but it won’t be long before fans will get to see just that as the cast recently got together to film segments celebrating the movie’s 10th anniversary. 

The film, a Disney Channel Original movie, premiered back in 2006 and was the first of 3 hit films. The sequels were released in 2007 and 2008. The mega hit, which gave fans popular numbers like “Breaking Free” and “Start of Something New,” also did its part boosting the careers of its biggest stars – including Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Corbin Bleu, Monique Coleman, and Lucas Grabeel. 

The film told the story of Troy and Gabriella, students from very different cliques whose paths cross when they audition for the high school musical. 

The special will air in the US Wednesday, January 20, but the stars have already posted photos from their reunion. Zac Efron, an ex-boyfriend of Vanessa Hudgens, will reportedly be present via a pre-taped message for viewers.

Director Kenny Ortega, who helmed all 3 High School Musical movies, posted this message on Instagram along with a photo of the cast:
