Single? John Lloyd Cruz on his relationship status
MANILA, Philippines – John Lloyd Cruz confirmed that he's single, two months after news had broken that he and actress Angelica Panganiban split.
In an interview with reporters during the press launch of Western Union, Thursday, March 31, where he was announced as the global ambassador, he was asked if he was single. John Lloyd replied, "Yeah, yeah."
"I don’t need to set the record straight. Wala naman pong nagbabago (Nothing has changed)," he said.
"Life is too short. Dapat you have to make every moment count. You have to make every moment count. Sa edad kong 'to magtatago pa ba? Sila JaDine nga umaamin, tayo pa ba? Nakakahiya naman kung magde-deny pa tayo," he said.
(At my age, should I still hide it? You have to make every moment count. If JaDine admitted it, why shouldn't I? It's embarassing if I still deny it.)
"Wala po ganun pa din po," John Lloyd said when asked about his love life. "May mga haka-haka lang, yung mga iba mas marunong pa sa tao, kung ano ang sinusulat… Sanay na naman tayo na pangungunahan tayo ng ibang tao. Pero kasi kung meron naman, 'di ba, parang magiging masaya ka naman para ipamalita."
(Nothing, it's still the same. That's hearsay. There are people who feel that they know better than the person himself – writing about anything they please... I'm used to people making presumptions. But on the other hand, if there is someone special, you're more than happy to share the news.)
John Lloyd also addressed the issue about him and on-screen partner Bea Alonzo, who was rumored to be the reason that he and Angelica broke up. Bea and Zanjoe Marudo confirmed they broke up in January.
"We don't feel the need to talk about it. Kasi doon sa mga taong involved doon sa issue, alam nila naman kung ano ang totoo, and madalas, sapat na sa amin iyong alam namin ang totoo," he said.
(Because for those people involved in the issue, we know the truth and often, we're satisfied that we know the truth.)
In January, it was reported that he and Angelica broke up, according to talent manager Ogie Diaz.
The couple were together for almost 4 years. Last year, both John Lloyd and Angelica had been asked about persistent rumors about problems in their relationship, and they insisted that they were still together.
Meanwhile, John Lloyd said that he was very happy to be working with GMA 7 actress Jennylyn in their upcoming movie, Just the 3 of Us.
"I’m very excited, kasi after the film or in this film, makikita natin kung ano ba talagang meron or pwede sa amin dalawa (we'll see what the two of us have) as far as doing a movie is concerned," he said.
When asked how working with Jennylyn was like, John Lloyd said, "Masaya. (Very happy) Very professional, very dedicated. Wala akong masabi (I have nothing to say). Like all the women na nakatrabaho (I've worked with) in the past, I think important din yung Jennylyn Mercado sa atin sa industriya (The likes of her are important in our industry). Masaya lang ako na nakatrabaho ko siya. (I'm just happy to have worked with her.)"
John Lloyd also said that he is happy that talents between GMA 7 and ABS-CBN are now working together.
He said, "Maliit lang itong mundo natin eh. Dapat ma-break ang barriers, dapat mas bumuka pa. (Our world is very small. The barriers should be broken. The gates should open wide.)" – Rappler.com
