Rear Admiral Feliciano Salonga dies at the age of 86

MANILA, Philippines – Broadway star Lea Salonga’s father, Rear Admiral Feliciano Salonga, died on Friday, January 29. He was 86 years old.

Lea confirmed the news on Twitter by posting a screengrab of his obituary.

 


 

On her Facebook, Lea said: “To be completely honest, I didn’t know even half of what he’s done in his professional or military life. All I know is he has now joined the rest of his ancestors that went to the Great Beyond before him. Rest in peace, Dad. And thanks to Preciosa Soliven for furnishing this obituary that came out in the Philippine Star.”

Aside from being a naval officer, Salonga was also a former Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) chairman, under former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. 

Lea is busy doing the show Allegiancewhich is running in New York City. She is scheduled to return home sometime this year to do another play, Fun Home– Rappler.com
