LOOK: Get Leonardo DiCaprio an Oscar in funny game ‘Leo’s Red Carpet Rampage’
Race against Eddie Redmayne as 'The Danish Girl,' jump over icebergs and Lady Gaga, beat a 'Quaalude Overdose,' and more in this hilarious game

MANILA, Philippines – Leonardo DiCaprio has had the chance to win an acting Oscar for films like The Wolf of Wall Street, The Aviator, and Blood Diamond. But every time, the Academy gods has denied him of his much-deserved triumph.

Leo’s latest bid for an Oscar comes after his role as fur trapper Hugh Glass in Alejandro González Iñárritu’s The Revenant. In it, he delivers what might be 2015’s most riveting performance on film. (READ: Leonardo DiCaprio may finally get Oscars due with ‘The Revenant’)

But with a hilarious internet game called Leo’s Red Carpet Rampage, you might be able to help Leo finally nab the Oscar that has eluded him. You just have to mash on the “G” and “H” keys as fast as you can to make Leo dash and reach for the sparkling golden statuette.

Styled like a retro 16-bit Nintendo game, Red Carpet Rampage lets you help Leo collect SAG (Screen Actors Guild) Awards and Golden Globes like tokens while he sprints towards the Oscar trophy.

Along the way, however, pesky reporters and paparazzi – even the iceberg that sank the Titanic – block Leo’s path. You have to race against Eddie Redmayne as The Danish Girl, Matt Damon as The Martian, and Bryan Cranston in Trumbo – plus, jump over Lady Gaga. (FULL LIST: Nominees, Oscars 2016)

There are bonus stages, too. In “Quaalude Overdose,” you have to help Leo crawl towards his Lamborghini, just like the scene from The Wolf of Wall Street. There are hysterical ones like “Act Harder,” or “Find the Black Nominee,” which is kind of a swipe at the Oscars’ perceived diversity problem.

Created by The Line Animation at Electric Theatre Collective in London, the game was conceived from “a joke that went way too far,” said Sam Taylor, one of the game’s designers in an email interview with Rappler. The team of creative and comedic geniuses behind the viral game also includes designers Max van der Merwe and Bjorn-Erik Aschim.

“It was so silly and fun, and in talking about it it spawned all these other ideas. I think that’s the mark of a concept that has legs – when the brainstorm goes on for way too long,” Taylor added, saying that their “little ideas” became the basis for the obstacles and mini-games.

The game’s rise to popularity astounded the creative team. “We thought it’d take a while to pick up but in about 2 hours we were looking at 6000 plays per minute. […] It’s thrilling and a little terrifying,” said Taylor.

When asked about Leo’s brilliant acting turn this year, Taylor said, “I thought The Revenant was brilliant, and its DiCaprio’s performance was amazing. He’s a very good actor but I’m not sure we have strong opinions about who should win Oscars.”

“As a rule of thumb I tend to root for the underdog. I suppose DiCaprio is an underdog in some ways but then again then again the concept of whole thing is to build publicity around the film industry and the artists involved in it. […] Perhaps if he didn’t win again, that hype would continue for longer. Who knows?”
