WATCH: How Jed Llanes proposed to Paulina Luz Sotto

MANILA, Philippines – On Thursday, February 25, Jed Llanes proposed to Paulina Sotto and we get to see exactly how in the video above.

Jed’s proposal came as a surprise to Paulina, a painter, who thought that she was being interviewed for a magazine feature.

After the interview at her house, Paulina was brought to the Valle Verde 4 clubhouse, where she was given a note – a clue that something was up.

Paulina settled down in the clubhouse – especially decorated for the event – and was given roses by her family and friends.

Jed came in later with a bouquet of his own, and gave a short, emotional speech: “My life was going to pieces before you came into my life. I didn’t know who I was, I didn’t know what I wanted to do. You changed that,” said Jed.

He continued, “You gave me direction, you gave me purpose. And I stand here before you, promising you that I’ll take care of you, all the days of our lives; promising to make you happy ’til the end of time. And I hope that one day, when we look back, we did everything the way we wanted. We’ll face challenges together, and we’ll look back with no regrets.”

Afterwards, Jed got down on one knee and popped the question, to which Paulina answered, “Of course.”

“It was basically my dream come true, because before I met him I really thought this wouldn’t happen for me,” said an overwhelmed Paulina after the proposal.

“I really, really didn’t think that I would find someone that I was willing to spend the rest of my life with, but when he was talking to me, talagang (really) all the emotions were just flowing, and… I really can’t even describe [it], I’m just really, really happy.”

Paulina’s family members also gave short messages for the couple. She is the daughter of comedian Vic Sotto with Angela Luz, and the granddaughter of Philippine National Artist Arturo Luz. 

“You know I’ve always prayed for you to find the right guy, and you know, from the start, I knew it was gonna be Jed. You know that even without a wedding, I already think he’s my son. So I’m really happy for you,” said Angela, who then joked, “And I hope you give me my 7 grandchildren, I’ll be looking forward to that after the wedding. Sana (I hope it’s a) honeymoon baby!”

Vic, on the other hand, said, “‘Di ko pa alam kung ano message ko dahil ‘di pa nagsisink in (I don’t know what my message is because it hasn’t sunk in yet), but just the same, may God bless you and good luck. See you at the wedding!”

News of Paulina’s engagement comes weeks after the wedding of Vic to actress Pauleen Luna.

Jed, 25, is currently taking his master’s degree at Harvard University.
