‘Tubig at Langis’ team clarifies Cristine Reyes, Vivian Velez incident

MANILA, Philippines – Following actress Vivian Velez’s resignation from ABS-CBN TV show Tubig at Langis because of cast member Cristine Reyes’ alleged rude treatment towards her, the program issued an official press statement. 

The statement said that it was only during the previous week that misunderstanding between the two actresses arose.

Reps for the TV show’s production team wrote that while Vivian aired her complaint in detail, they wanted to clarify the incident in which she accused Cristine of asking her to leave their shared standby room. (READ: Vivian Velez quits show, says Cristine Reyes was ‘rude’ to her)

Vivian told PEP in a previous interview, “She bangs the doors, shouted at me. She keeps on singing ‘Goodbye, Farewell’ in front of my face while we are rehearsing.”

The statement read, “Narinig na ng karamihan ang panig ni Vivian ngunit may isang punto lang na may kaugnayan sa nangyari sa dressing room ang nais linawin ng programa.”

(Many have heard Vivian’s side about this issue, but the program wishes to clarify one of her points regarding the dressing room incident.)

The show vouched for Cristine’s professionalism, contrary to Vivian’s claim that the younger actress treated her rudely during this specific incident. It read, “Hindi totoong pinaalis ni Cristine si Vivian sa dressing room. “Sa katunayan, walang problema ang staff sa work ethics ni Cristine at maayos itong nakikisama sa lahat ng katrabaho niya. Humingi kami paunmanhin kina Cristine at Vivian kaugnay nito.”

(In fact, the staff takes no issue with Cristine’s work ethic and she has been cordial towards her colleagues. We wish to apologize to Cristine and Vivian regarding this issue.)

(From the time Tubig at Langis began production last October 2015 until it first aired last month, everything was peaceful on set. Each one of us worked hard – from the cast, crew, and staff – and this is why each episode has turned out well.

It was only in the last week that some misunderstandings arose during taping between the show’s lead star, Cristine Reyes, and veteran actress Vivian Velez. Many have heard Vivian’s side about this issue, but the program wishes to clarify one of her points regarding the dressing room incident.

Cristine did not actually ask Vivian to leave the dressing room. There was a miscommunication and the production team wishes to take responsibility for this. In fact, the staff takes no issue with Cristine’s work ethic and she has been cordial towards her colleagues. We wish to apologize to Cristine and Vivian regarding this issue.

We regret that this unfortunate incident happened within the family we have formed in Tubig at Langis. We have explained our points to the two actresses and we hope that this issue can be resolved in a proper and pleasant manner.

In spite of this, our avid viewers can expect us to continue to work hard to give them a meaningful and timely story to follow on our show, Tubig at Langis.)

Vivian previously announced on Facebook that she wished “to tender her immediate irrevocable resignation” as a cast member of Tubig and Langis, where she played Conching, the hardworking mother of Natoy, the protagonist played by Zanjoe Marudo.
