Luis Manzano on relationship with Angel Locsin: ‘We’re friends’
Luis talks about Angel following their reported breakup and clarifies the 'kalmot' issue with Alex Gonzaga

MANILA, Philippines – Despite their reported breakup early this year, Luis Manzano said that he and Angel Locsin are still good friends.

We’re friends. Yes we’re friends,” he told reporters after the press conference for his new show Family Feud, Monday, April 4. (READ: Angel Locsin addresses Luis Manzano breakup rumors)

Ayoko na talagang mag-expound kasi nga nakakahiya sa tao. Masasabihan ako na user, masasabihan ako ng ganyan. Kumbaga less talk, less mistake, iyan ang sinasabi nila sa industriya. Let people say what they want,” he said.

(I don’t want to expound on it because it really isn’t nice. I’ll beaccused of being a user, they’ll say this and that. In other words, less talk, fewer mistakes, as they say in this industry.)

As for reports that they are back together after an episode where Luis was seen guiding Angel (Angel has been suffering a back injury), he said: “At this point, we’re friends. I don’t want to add color. Basta magkaibigan kami. At sa lahat ng pinagdaanan namin, magkaibigan kami. (We’re friends. And everything that we’ve been through, we are friends)”

Luis also clarified the supposed “kalmot” (scratching) issue with Alex Gonzaga, after bashers went to her social media accounts, accusing her of hurting Luis.

Eto na. Diyos ko, ‘yung Kalmot Serye na yan,” Luis said. Nagwo-work out kami together.

(Here’s the story. My goodness that Kalmot Serye. We were working out together. What she was doing was the side plank…I came from muay thai, took off my shirt that was really wet from all that sweat. While she was doing the side plank, I wanted to hang the shirt on her hand.)

Lumampas or binaba niya ‘yung kamay niya, e pumasok sa bibig niya. So basically, nainom niya ang pawis ko… So sabi niya, ‘Kuya!’ Galit na galit sa akin, so hinahabol niya ako sa kili-kili niya. Pagkahawak niya sa akin, pumipiglas ako kasi kili-kili niya. So pumipiglas ako, nakalmot.

(It missed or she put her hand down and it went inside her mouth. So basically, she drank my sweat …so she said “Kuya!” She was mad and she tried to catch me through my armpits. When she held me , I tried to get away and then after that I got scratched.)

So noong nakita ko ang mommy ko, the next night, sabi ko, ‘Mommy, ano ang message mo kay Alex?’ ‘Yun ‘yun,” he said. (So when I saw my mom the following night, I said “Mommy what’s your message to Alex?)

Luis said that he could not understand why it was blown out of proportion since he and Alex are good friends. He also said that Alex is like a sister to him and he will protect her no matter what.

As for his parents being in politics, Luis said he’s very used to it now that his dad is also joining the Senate race. He also said he will try to campaign for them as much as he can.

“They’re very different,” he said of his mom Batangas governor Vilma Santos’ run for congresswoman and dad Edu Manzano’s running for senator.  “At the same time similar, ang showbiz and politics. So ako time management lang in terms of how to support them.”

As for the show Family Feud, Luis said he’s very excited to be doing it since he’s a fan of the show that Steve Harvey is currently hosting in the States.

Nung una pa lang na sinabi sa akin na ‘Luis, they’re considering you to do Family Feud,’ sobrang natuwa na ako. Kung anong binibigay ko sa ibang mga game shows, mas dadagdagan ko pa,” he said.

(When they told me ‘Luis they’re considering you to do Family Feud, I was really happy. So whatever I gave to the other game shows, I will definitely give more of my best here.)
