Ryan Reynolds accepts his Best Comedic Performance award at the MTV Movie Awards in the most Deadpool way possible: with a squad of dancing Deadpools

MANILA, Philippines – Right before Ryan Reynolds accepted his Best Comedic Performance award for Deadpool at the 2016 MTV Movie Awards, Sunday, April 10 (Monday, April 11 in Manila), the most bonkers thing happened. (FULL LIST: Winners, MTV Movie Awards 2016)

Hip-hop duo Salt-N-Pepa, whose song “Shoop” (1993) prominently featured in Deadpool, came out onstage with a dozen Deadpools or so, dancing raunchily to their upbeat track.

Afterwards, Ryan Reynolds came on stage and gave the most Deadpool-esque acceptance speech, starting with a sardonic remark.

“For starters, I’m really glad Amy Schumer didn’t win, that would have been really weird for those dancers,” he quipped.

“I have been trying to get a ‘Deadpool’ movie made for a little bit over a decade and actually I failed,” he continued. “It was you, the fans, who got this movie made. You pushed it over the top and you did it.”

“The reason I’m standing up here is because of you guys. We had a blast working on this movie, but it wasn’t all unicorns and cocaine. This cast and crew gave their last drop of blood to make the most authentic Deadpool movie possible,” Ryan said.

Aside from Best Comedic Performance, Ryan also nabbed the award for Best Fight, for his character’s face-off with Ed Skrein’s Ajax in the movie– Rappler.com
