“Bucky’s the friend you have in your youth, but Falcon’s the friend that Cap chose once Cap knew who he was, where he was, he actually,” reflected Chris. “We all can relate to this. We all have friends from our youth that were just our friend because we were young, and we didn’t know any better. And then when you get older you pick your friends because you know who you are a little bit more. And that’s who Falcon is.”
Asked whether Falcon would be a contender to be Cap’s ultimate BFF, Anthony had this to say: “No, I’ll be a contender for getting rid of Bucky.”

“I love seeing the evolution of Steve and Sam, I love seeing the evolution of Steve and Bucky, I think these are big things in Steve’s life. I think Steve’s always been lacking in terms of a sense of home,” Chris explained.
“I think that’s what Steve’s been looking for ever since he woke up 70 years later. And I think the hunt for the reconnection with Bucky, and the cultivation and development of his current relationship with Sam, has been his key priorities. So watching those two developments emerge and actually collide, is not only satisfying but really humorous. They do a really good job of watching the old and the new bump against one another.”
Off-screen, the friendship is real. Chris noted that he’s worked with Sebastian since they made the first Captain America film, released back in 2011. Chris and Anthony have actually done two movies together not related to their Marvel roles – What’s Your Number? (2011) and Playing It Cool (2014). And Sebastian and Anthony actually are great friends in real life – director Joe Russo told us that their rapport was so great that it influenced some of the banter you see on-screen.
