WATCH: Channing Tatum to hold live ‘Magic Mike’ show in Las Vegas
Channing also intends to take the live version of 'Magic Mike' on a tour 'eventually' – including a worldwide one – but wants to 'start it small' in Las Vegas

MANILA, Philippines – After scintillating movie audiences as part of a band of strippers in Magic Mike and its sequel, Channing Tatum just announced that they’re transplanting the raunchy cinematic experience live onstage.

In partnership with Cosmopolitan magazine and its online platform, Channing will be mounting Magic Mike Live at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Las Vegas, USA – “previewing” in March 2017.

Appearing alongside shirtless models and cute puppies in a Cosmopolitan video, he said, “I was thinking, ‘What’s the next step for Magic Mike? 2-D? I’ve done it twice. 3-D? 3-D hasn’t been cool since Avatar. Virtual reality? I don’t know.”

“And that’s when Justin Timberlake from The Social Network popped into my mind, and he goes, ‘What if you just dropped the virtual – Magic Mike reality?'”

The actor added, “God knows, we have enough gentlemen’s clubs in this world, so let’s start the first gentle-ladies club – or maybe not so gentle. Depends what you’re into.”

In a separate video posted previously on his Facebook page, Channing introduced several of the models who will be appearing in the live production, as well as choreographers Alison Faulk and Teresa Espinosa – both of whom worked on the film version.

Channing, who will also be directing the live production alongside Alison Faulk, also fielded some questions via Facebook’s live feature.

“We wanna change what male entertainment has been for years,” he said. “It’s time to revolutionize and change something that has been very old – that I think worked so well for so long. And now, times are a changin’.”

“We’re gonna do some different stuff, and have some fun in different ways and make it a little more of a conversation, instead of just men going up there and trying to tell you what you should think is sexy. We really wanna hear from you.”

Channing didn’t reveal any further details about the show “because there’s so much that is actually being sort of made as we’re starting this conversation.”

“It’s up to you to help us create it,” he said, urging viewers to leave questions, suggestions, and comments.

He also revealed that the show will “eventually” tour and that this could be taken “worldwide,” but he wanted to “start it small” at the Hard Rock.

When asked if the actors in the movies will appear in the show, Channing answered, “If I’m ever in shape enough to actually do the show again, I will absolutely step on stage just because it’s fun.” – Rappler.com
