Toni Gonzaga opens up about pregnancy

MANILA, Philippines – After confirming last month that she and husband director Paul Soriano were expecting their first baby, Toni Gonzaga explained why she decided to delay the announcement to the public. 

In an interview on Bandila on Thursday, May 12, Toni, who is now 5 months pregnant, said that it wasn’t in their immediate plans to have a baby.

“Nung nag-positive yung test natigilan muna ako tapos napaluhod ako – nasa CR ako nun,” She said. “Nanghina yung tuhod ko. Napaluhod ako, napakapit ako sa sink tapos bigla na ako umiyak.”

(When the test came out positive, I was stunned and then I kneeled. I was in the CR at that time. I felt my knees getting weak. I kneeled and held onto the sink, and then I just cried.)

Toni said that her sister Alex was the first person whom she called, and that Paul was also surprised about the news. 

She shared that the soon-to-be grandmothers were most thrilled by the announcement. Toni and Paul’s baby is the first grandchild on both sides. “Yung mga daddies namin, ‘Oh okay.’ Na parang hindi sila makapaniwala na magiging lolo na sila. Kasi first apo on both sides,” she said.

(Our daddies were like ‘Oh okay.’ It was like they could not believe that they were going to be grandfathers. This is the first grandchild on both sides.)

Toni told Bandila she waited for a while before announcing the news because she had a delicate pregnancy.

“I’ve experienced yung bleeding and hemorrhage, and I was asked to take medicine na pangpakapit (pregnancy medicine),” she said.

Toni also recalled the moment when she had her first ultrasound check-up: “Iyan yung first time na lumabas yung heartbeat. (That was the first time when first detected the heartbeat) That really changed everything for us. Paul got emotional. I got emotional.”

As for her pregnancy cravings, Toni shared that she would look for Paul instead of food.

“Kailangan ko siya makagat. Kung hindi ko siya makakagat, kailangan ko siya amuyin,” she said. (I need to bite him. If not, I would smell him.)

Their baby’s sex will soon be revealed, according to the Bandila report.

Toni and Paul are set to celebrate their wedding anniversary next month. – Rappler.com
