'We’re very careful but at the same time, nagtitiwala kami that no one is above the law and nagtitiwala din kami sa mga lawyers namin,' Shaina says regarding the current issue between Vina Morales and ex Cedric Lee

MANILA, Philippines – Shaina Magdayao said that she and the family are extra careful with the safety of her niece Ceana, daughter of Shaina’s sister Vina Morales, after Ceana was allegedly detained for 9 days by her father Cedric Lee. Cedric has denied the allegations.

“We’re very careful but at the same time, nagtitiwala kami that no one is above the law and nagtitiwala din kami sa mga lawyers namin. Magiging maayos din ito in due time,” she told reporters during the press conference for the movie Dukot, Saturday, July 2. Shaina and Enrique Gil lead the cast of the movie, where Shaina plays Enrique’s sister.

(We’re very careful but at the same time, we trust that no one is above the law and we also trust our lawyers. This will be okay in due time.)

Medyo malayo ang agwat. Because we did this movie January, February… I was doing My Candidate so medyo malayo po siya sa nangyari sa amin. Nine days with my pamangkin, naibalik naman sa amin then medyo we wanted to be very careful doon sa mga statements namin na ibibigay now kasi nasa korte pa siya,” she said.

(It’s quite far. Because we did this movie Janaury, February…I was doing My Candidate so it was very far from what happened to us. Nine days with my niece, she was given back to us and we wanted to be very careful with the statements we come out with since it’s already with the court.)

Shaina also said that has she done the movie at the time Ceana was away, it would have been very different.

“Actually kung ginawa namin yung Dukot [at that time] medyo mas makakarelate talaga ako kasi hindi mo alam diba kung anong nangyayari. Para sa amin she’s just a little girl – baby girl who is 7 years old. So nakakatakot na wala ka naman magawa kung hindi ipagdasal na lang talaga na everything will be okay and ibaba lahat ng ego, ang pride para sa welfare nung bata because at the end of the day, ang nag-susuffer is not us, hindi kaming matatanda okay lang iyan pero pagkabata iyong pinaguusapan iba na iyon. So sana, maayos na lahat.”

(Actually, if we made Dukot [at that time] I could have probably relate to it more because you don’t know what could happen. For us she’s just a little girl – baby girl who is 7 years old. So it’s very scary that you cannot do anything but pray that everything will be okay and to set aside all the ego, the pride for the welfare of the child, because at the end of the day, the one who will suffer is not us adults, that’s okay but if we talk about a child’s welfare, that’s a different story. So I hope eveything will be okay in due time.)

Vina accused Cedric of detaining their daughter and taking Ceana without her permission for 9 days. At that time, Vina was vacationing abroad with her boyfriend Marc Lambert.  (READ: Vina Morales on complaint against Cedric Lee: ‘This is about my child’s welfare’)

Cedric meanwhile denied Vina’s accusations that he has detained Ceana, saying that his lawyers have been in touch with Vina’s lawyer and family regarding his plans to take Ceana out. He also denied the accusations that he has been bullying Vina and her family.

Cedric filed 5 counts of libel against Vina last June 20 at the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor in Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija. – Rappler.com
