Antoinette Jadaone cries foul as ‘Achy Breaky Hearts’ leaked

MANILA, Philippines – Days after the movie was released in cinemas, Antoinette Jadaone’s The Achy Breaky Hearts was leaked online.

On Monday, July 4, the filmmaker took to social media to air her views about piracy. She tweeted from the Maldives, where she is with The Achy Breaky Hearts co-writer Yoshke Dimen.

Her tweets read: “Hay, mga Pinoy talaga. Minsan tayo rin pumapatay sa sariling industriya natin e no? Tapos magrereklamo kapag di nakuntento. NAPAKAHUSAY!!!

(Hay, Filipinos. Sometimes, we ourselves kill our own industry, huh? And then we’ll complain when we’re not content. Good job!)

“Napakahusay natin humingi ng pagbabago e mga sarili natin, di natin mabago. Ang kakapal ng mga mukha n’yo!!! Nakakadiri!”

(We are so good at asking for change when we can’t even change ourselves. You have no shame! It’s disgusting!)

She went on to say that she and Yoshke will be watching the movie in theaters when they get back, and that they have taken action against those who were reported to have copies of the movie.

She also thanked those who watched The Achy Breaky Hearts in theaters and those reporting incidents of piracy.

Tonette also mentioned that she encountered piracy before, too: with her previous film, That Thing Called Tadhana: “Ginawa n’yo na ‘to dati sa Tadhana e di ba? Naniwala pa rin ako sa pelikula pagkatapos. Tapos eto uli. Masisisi mo ba akong mawalan ng gana?”

(You did this before with Tadhana, right? And I still believed in film afterward. Now, this happens again. Can you blame me if I lose faith?)
