MANILA, Philippines – UP Town Center opened in 2013 and has slowly expanded since then, setting up new stores, restaurants – and now, there’s a cool, brand new cinema.

Among the mall’s 4 new movie theaters is one that offers a 4DX experience, just like the one at Bonifacio High Street in Taguig. (READ: New cinemas at Bonifacio High Street: 4DX experience)

The chairs at UP Town’s Cinema 4 are high off the ground as they move with the ongoing action and let the viewer experience whatever is happening on the screen – water is sprayed, there are strange smells, and wind blows through.

On the day of the launch, for example, members of the media and other Ayala Malls’ guests were able to watch Ghostbusters, where they were sprayed with “ectoplasm,” made to smell “burnt metal,” and feel the wind blowing through New York City.

While movie prices may vary, the 4DX movie that was screening on Friday, July 15 was priced at P450.

Aside from 4DX, UP Town Center also has one movie theater that has reclining seats and is equipped with Dolby Atmos, a surround sound system. The other two are Dolby digital theaters.

Outside, aside from the usual movie theater fare such as popcorn, there are food establishments set up, although not all were open as of writing.
