Director Gareth Edwards and the cast talk about making the upcoming film in this 'Rogue One' celebration reel

LONDON, United Kingdom – Warzones on beaches and jungles – like Apocalypse Now or Thin Red Line, but in a galaxy far, far away – this is what Rogue One looks like.

A new behind-the-scenes look at the upcoming Star Wars stand-alone film has been unveiled at the Star Wars Celebration in ExCeL London Exhibition Center on July 15, Friday.

The filmmaker and cast – Diego Luna, Riz Ahmed, Felicity Jones, Donnie Yen, Jiang Wen, Alan Tudyk, Mads Mikkelsen, Forest Whitaker and Ben Mendelsohn – appeared onstage to speak about their experiences filming Rogue One without divulging too much.

“It’s like the fantasy you’ve always had as a kid – everywhere has an amazing shot with amazing characters,” says director Gareth Edwards in the video above.

“The pressure’s so high,” he adds later in the reel. “We’re making a film that’s right touching my favorite movie of all time, but then if you’re too respectful of it that you daren’t do anything new or different or take a risk, then what are you bringing to the table?”

The celebration reel also shows shots of stormtroopers on location at the Maldives (standing in for Scarif) walking through bright blue waters, Felicity as Jyn running through battle scenes, and a look at how they achieved some of the effects in the movie.

The Star Wars Celebration is a LucasFilm event that started in 1999, celebrating all things Star Wars. This year, the celebration runs from July 15 to 17 in London. – Rappler.com
