Piolo Pascual speaks up on malicious comments on photo with son Iñigo
'Sa tagal ko ba naman sa industriya, papatol pa ba tayo?' Piolo says of the malicious comments

MANILA, Philippines – A photo of Piolo Pascual and his son Iñigo hugging each other went viral over the past week.

However, while some netizens found the snapshot of a bonding moment between father and son “sweet,” there were others who commented with malice and attached spurious narratives to it.

In an interview with PEP during the Sa 15 Silkamazing Years event at the Trinoma Activity Center, Piolo just brushed off negative remarks about the photo.

Hindi na… kumbaga hindi ko na pinagtakahan yun,” he said. “Yun talaga yung nature ng tao, e, mapag… masama, yung mapagduda.

(Not really… in other words I’m not really surprised by it. That’s really the nature of people. There’s a tendency to be spiteful and cynical.)

“E, my son didn’t see me for 2 months, you know, so ganun kami,” Piolo explained.

(My son has not seen me for 2 months, you know, so it’s like that.)

According to ABS-CBN News, it was Piolo’s longtime personal assistant who had first shared it on social media.

In the same interview, Piolo said that he and Iñigo have always been affectionate with each other.  He also said he does not have time to reply to those who continue to criticize him.

Sa tagal ko ba naman sa industriya, papatol pa ba tayo?

(I’ve been in the showbiz industry for a long time now, so should I even comment?)

“Ipinagkibit-balikat na lang yun at mas maraming may kuwentang gawin sa buhay kaysa pumatol,” he said.

(i just shrug it off because there are more worthwhile things to do than to react to critics.)

In a previous interview with reporters during the Sun Life event Friday, July 22, Piolo said that Iñigo even surprised him after he arrived from his vacation abroad.

“He’s been spending time with me ever since I arrived. Nag-cancel siya ng isang trabaho (he canceled one job) because he wanted to spend time with me,” he said.

He also said that he and Iñigo even became close as they would text everyday while he was abroad. – with a report from Alexa Villano/Rappler.com
