Liza Diño defends Mocha Uson on BOC issue: She doesn’t deserve all the hate
(UPDATED) 'She doesn't deserve all this hate. Below the belt na,' Liza writes, following vitriol directed at Mocha Uson who was falsely reported to have been given a Bureau of Customs post

MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – Singer-dancer Mocha Uson was the subject of a backlash after earlier reports said that she has been given an appointment as “social media consultant” at the Bureau of Customs (BOC). Actress Liza Diño came to her defense, saying that “she doesn’t deserve all [this] hate.”

She wrote on Instagram, “Yung binabash ninyo, mas may pakinabang pa kaysa sa inyong mga walang ginawa kung di mangutya at mamuna.”

(The one you’re bashing actually serves a better purpose than the ones who have done nothing but to mock and blame.)

A staunch supporter of President Rodrigo Duterte like Mocha, Liza admitted that while she doesn’t always agree with Mocha’s views, she argued that she doesn’t deserve the vitriol.

“Mocha and I may not always see things eye to eye and yes, may mga opinyon siyang hindi ako sang-ayon (she has opinions I don’t agree with), but she doesn’t deserve all these hate. Below the belt na,” she said.

“May paraan para ipahayag ang inyong opinyon na hindi kailangang manapak ng pagkatao at manirang puri.”

(There’s a way to air your opinions without mudslinging or disrespecting another person’s humanity.)

She lamented this hateful attitude of some of Uson’s detractors and suggested that there is a need for a law against cyberbullying.

“Kailangan na talagang magkaroon ng batas para supilin ang cyberbullying. Dahil sa social media, lumalabas ang pagkawalang modo ng mga tao. Nakakalungkot,” Liza wrote.

(There really is a need for a law to combat cyberbullying. Because of social media, people’s ill manners tend to surface. This is saddening.)

On Rappler’s Facebook post with this article, Liza commented, “Of course I respect where you’re all coming from. Like I said, I don’t agree with how she lashes out on people sometimes.”

“But yung mga bastos na salita ang foul na. Wala naman masama pumuna, but bastos na kasi yung pananalita,” she added.

(But the other rude words directed towards her are just excessive. There’s nothing wrong with criticism, but not when the words are just too mean.)

She reiterated that while people may not agree with Mocha, she is able to empathize with her because she is a woman, too.

“No one deserves that kahit pa hindi tayo sang-ayon sa kanya,” Liza said. “I have been a target of one of her posts din before, but at the end of the day, [I] still feel for her dahil babae din ako. Sagad sa buto ang kabastusan ng ibang comments.”

(No one deserves that even if we don’t agree with her. I have been a target of one of her posts, too, before, but at the end of the day, I still feel for her because I am a woman, too. Some of the comments are just too extreme.)

Earlier reports about Mocha Uson’s alleged appointment was debunked by BOC Commissioner Nicanor Faeldon himself, saying that Mocha was only tapped to help with disseminating the agency’s “reform agenda through her blog.” (READ: Mocha Uson BOC ‘social media consultant’? Not so, says chief

Mocha herself previously clarified that she has indeed, not received any official designation in the government agency. (READ: Mocha Uson clarifies BOC issue: No official appointment)

“Ulitin ko po, wala pong official appointment na naganap sa BOC. Binigyang kulay lamang ito ng iba,” she wrote on her blog.

(I repeat, there was no official appointment that was given to me in the BOC. People are just putting a spin on it).

Uson, who founded the group Mocha Girls, supported Duterte and his anti-crime platform during his campaign. She said it was because her father, Judge Oscar Uson, was killed in 2007, allegedly due to a case he was handling. – Rappler.com
