MANILA, Philippines – The Voice Kids Philippines season 3 grand finals ended with Joshua Oliveros of Team Lea winning the grand prize.

But what happened during the two-day live grand finals at Resorts World Manila? Here’s a rundown.

Before he went up onstage, Lea said in a pre-taped video feature: “May something itong batang ‘to (This kid has something), something that I will not be able to teach.” Joshua had heart, she said.

After Joshua sang, Coach Sharon agreed with Lea, adding, “Joshua, anumang mangyari ngayon, nakuha mo na ang puso naming lahat.” (Joshua, no matter what happens tonight, you already have our hearts.)

Next up was the only female finalist, Coach Sharon’s Antonetthe Tismo, singing “Pangako.”

Antonetthe got a standing ovation for her performance, with Sharon telling her afterwards: “Medyo disappointed ako kagabi. Pero binawi mo times two ngayong gabi.” (I was a little disappointed last night. But you made up for it twofold tonight.)

Last to perform was Justin Alva from Bamboo’s team, with “How Will I Know.”

Justin didn’t make it past the audition stage in season 2, and in the pre-performance feature, Bamboo said that he’s carried a lot of baggage from that. “You have to have faith in you,” Bamboo said to Justin.

“Sabi ko sa kanya hindi ko siya titigilan hanggang ma-reach niya ang goal niya na manalo sa show na ‘to,” added Bamboo.

(I told him that I won’t stop until he reaches his goal of winning this show.)

After he sang, coach Lea told him, “Justin, you know what what, whatever happens, you have shown with your voice and with your heart, guaranteed may career ka na talaga (You really have a career already).”

Bamboo agreed, and added, “Guaranteed, but deserving to win this season… ‘pag kumanta ka, ang sakit eh, ramdam na ramdam ko ang pagkanta mo (when you sing, it hurts, I can really feel your emotions when you sing).”

Before the winner was announced, Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla sang a rendition of “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us.” The two invited their fans to watch their upcoming movie, Barcelona, too.

Joshua was then announced the winner of season 3 – coach Lea’s first win on The Voice Kids Philippines.

She told Joshua before he was announced the winner, “Kahit anumang mangyari ngayong gabi, dapat hindi mo makalimutan lahat ng tinuro namin sa’yo.”

Justin and Bamboo then performed the song “Stitches” by Shawn Mendes on stage. After the performance, Lea told Justin: “That was something. That was intense. Whenever it’s Bamboo, it’s always gonna be intense. Ang maganda Justin, minamatch mo rin ‘yung intensity niya. Maganda ‘yung naging performance mo. (What’s good, Justin, is that you matched his intensity. Your performance was good.)”

Sharon, meanwhile, described Justin as a “seasoned performer.”

Ang galing ng performance mo (Your performance was so great). And I’m still in love with you,” she said.

Joshua then sang with Lea “Nais Ko”, a song written by Ryan Cayabyab.

Bamboo commended Joshua for his performance, saying smiling helped him during the song.
