James Yap on relationship with Bimby Aquino Yap

MANILA, Philippines – Years after his annulment to former wife Kris Aquino, James Yap says he’s had a hard time reaching out to their son, Bimby Aquino Yap and that he hopes things will change when he grows older. 

According to Pep, the basketball player told DZRH on Thursday, September 1, that Bimby still hasn’t seen his new baby brother, Michael James. Michael is James’ son with his girlfriend, Michela Cazzola. (IN PHOTOS: James Yap, Michela Cazzola’s baby shower)

James told DZRH that the thinks Bimby should meet his brother and he’s already extended an invitation for his older son to visit any time.

When asked if he was able to coordinate with Kris with regard to spending time with Bimby, James answered, “Wala, e, hindi ko pa nakakausap. Walang chance, walang time, hindi ko nasabi sa kanya noon na magkakaroon na siya [si Bimby] ng kapatid.”

(Now, I haven’t been able to talk to her. I haven’t had the chance, there’s no time, I wasn’t able to tell him [Bimby] before that he was going to have a new sibling.)

“Mahirap, e,‘ he added. “Meron kasing nangyari before na medyo hindi maganda rin. So, wala. Kumbaga, sa totoo lang, honestly, parang ano… gumive-up na rin ako. Kasi sobrang… parang walang napapatunguhan, e. Ang effort mo, lahat, parang hindi nadi-develop. Nag-decide na lang ako na, tutal magkaroon din siya [Bimby] ng isip, lalaki rin siya at magkakaroon din siya ng isip sa sarili niya, hintayin na lang natin yung time.”

(It’s hard. Because something that wasn’t good happened before. So, nothing. In a way, to be honest, honestly, it’s like… I’ve given up alrady too. Because it’s so… it’s like it’s not going anywhere. Your effort, everything, nothing develops from it. So I’ve decided that, since he’ll eventually start thinking on his own, he’ll grow up and he’ll have his own opinions, I’ll just wait for that time.)

James added that he doesn’t want to force the issue, as that will only make things worse.

“Ipinagdadasal ko na lang na sana magkaroon ng time na makausap ko siya at maka-bonding ko rin kahit papa’no, at makita niya ang kapatid niya,” he said.

(I’m just praying that we’ll get the time to talk and bond in any way, and he’ll see his brother.)

Michael, who was born on August 8, is James’ 3rd child. Aside from Bimby and Michael, James revealed in 2014 that he had another child with an ex-girlfriend before Bimby.

Bimby, 9, is Kris and James’ only child from their marriage. Kris has another son, Joshua, from a previous marriage.
