WATCH: Louis Tomlinson performs at ‘X Factor’ finals, days after mom’s death
'You've done her proud,' Simon Cowell tells Louis

MANILA, Philippines – The show must go on for singer and One Direction member Louis Tomlinson. On Saturday, December 10, Louis joined Steve Aoki to perform Louis’ new single “Just Hold On” during the X Factor finals.

Simon Cowell, one of the judges of X Factor and a mentor of One Direction, praised Louis for performing, even after the death of his mother last December 7.

“What you’ve just done and the bravery, I respect you as an artist, I respect you as a person. And you know, your mom was so proud of you Louis, and she was so looking forward to tonight. She’s watching down on you now and you’ve done her proud,” he said, with a nod to Steve for supporting to Louis.

Louis and the other One Direction boys first got their start on X Factor back in 2010, and Simon has been there for them throughout the group’s evolution, all the way until their more recent hiatus.

Louis took to Twitter to post a message before the performance.

All the support has been incredible! Let’s do this together tonight.”

He later posted a series of tweets after the performance.  In one message, he wrote: “That was harder than I ever imagined. I want to thank everyone around me and all of the amazing fans out there that made that so special!”

He also said he knew his mom would have been proud of him onstage.

“”Feeling so much love around me and my family. Mum would have been so f**king proud ( sorry for swearing mum) love you!”

Louis also gave a shout-out to Steve Aoki for joining him on stage,

Last December 7, Louis’ mother Johannah Deakin died after battling leukemia.

Members of the group as well as other stars sent their messages to Louis, including Simon and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini. – Rappler.com
