WATCH: ‘Humans of New York’ becomes a series
MANILA, Philippines – In case you missed it, Humans of New York (HONY) is debuting a documentary series, which only seems to be a natural progression for the photo project, started by photographer Brandon Stanton in 2010.
According the Hollywood Reporter, the series will include 12 half-hour episodes.
Brandon shared the trailer for the upcoming series in an August 25 Facebook post, saying that the series will premiere “next week” on Facebook Watch.
True to the HONY spirit, the trailer features characters that are as diverse as any group of people can be: from babies and their parents, to old men with candyfloss beard, from serious and somber faces, to ones that light up in smiles. More importantly, the trailer is rife with the unexpected life lessons and moving, thought-provoking stories that HONY’s followers have loved since the beginning.
According to Brandon, the series took 1,200 interview filmed over the last 4 years with cinematographer Michael Crommett.
“At the heart of all these posts are the conversations themselves. I’m often deeply moved by the people I meet. Or they make me laugh. Or they make me think. And I always do my best to recreate the experience through photos and words,” Brandon said. “But I always knew that video would provide the closest thing to ‘actually being there.’” – Rappler.com
