WATCH: Meet the Filipino acts in 'X Factor UK'
MANILA, Philippines – Three Filipino acts have advanced to the next round of the X Factor UK.
On the episode aired on Monday, September 11 in the Philippines, the boy group JBK composed of Joshua Bulot, Bryan del Rosario, and Kim Lawrenz Ordonio perfomed Sam Smith's "Lay Me Down."
The group impressed the judges, which include Louis Walsh, Nicole Scherzinger, Sharon Osbourne, and Simon Cowell. All 4 of them gave the group a yes.
Nicole, who has Filipino heritage from her father's side, told JBK: "You are making the Filipinos so proud right now.” Meanwhile, Louis Walsh commended them for flying all the way from the Philippines.
Another contestant on the show is Elysa V, who came all the way from Australia where her family is based. She performed a rendition of Fleur East’s "Sax."
Nicole, who was impressed with her performance said yes.
On the first week of the show, another Filipino, Gaga Lord, made it to the first round of the auditions, when she performed Shirley Bassey’s “Diamonds are Forever.”
Gaga also earned yeses from all 4 judges.
The 3 Filipino acts are hoping to duplicate the success of the girl group 4th Impact, who made it to the top 5 on the show last year. – Rappler.com
