Angel expresses her frustration after videos of police allegedly distributing black propaganda against senatorial bet Neri Colmenares on election day circulate on social media

MANILA, Philippines – As election results were released to the public early Tuesday, May 14, actress Angel Locsin took to Twitter to express her disgust over the reported efforts to discredit her senatorial candidate, Bayan Muna chairman Neri Colmenares.

Angel had openly supported the candidacy of Neri, her nephew, and even appeared in his campaign posters.  (READ: PH celebs lend star power to 2019 election hopefuls)

Past the first hour of Tuesday morning, May 14, Angel slammed what she called the blatant violation of election laws after after videos of police allegedly distributing black propaganda against senatorial bet Neri Colmenares and leftist militant party-list groups on election day circulated on social media.

“Wala bang maibato kay Colmenares kaya bakit grabe ‘yung effort para makasira? Wala bang maibato kay Colmenares kaya kinakalat na komunista o NPA siya? Dahil ba gumagawa siya ng paraan para sa kapakanan ng ordinaryong tao at hindi sa ikabubuti ng mga mapagsamantalang tao? Mag-isip sana tayo,” Angel tweeted.

(Why the effort to ruin him? Is there nothing else to throw at Colmenares so they’re tring to destroy them by spreading that he’s a communist or an NPA? Is it because he’s trying to help ordinary people and not abusive people? Let’s use our brains, please.)

She followed up with another tweet, saying, “Ayoko pag inaargabyado ang kahit na sino (I don’t like it when anyone is treated unfairly).”

Angel aired her frustration following the circulation of videos showing the Philippine National Police (PNP) handing out black propaganda tabloids, which red-tagged the Makabayan bloc, Bayan Muna and Kabataan party lists, and Colmenares himself. Colmenares is at 24th place in the Senate race as of 4:44 am on Tuesday.
