LOOK: Piolo Pascual, Shaina Magdayao attend premiere of Lav Diaz's 'Ang Hupa' in Cannes
MANILA, Philippines — Piolo Pascual and Shaina Magdayao led the premiere of Lav Diaz's Ang Hupa at Canne in France on Wednesday, May 23.
The movie is part of the Directors' Fortnight, the non-competitve competition which also happens during the Cannes Film Festival.
The two actors were joined by Pinky Amador and Hazel Orencio during a Q and A for the movie. Film Development Council of the Philippines (FCDP) chairperson Liza Diño shared photos of the cast during the premiere.
Lav was unable to attend the event as he was in Cuba for a prior commitment, but he left a message, which was read on his behalf.
"The majority of the world's populace now doesn't trust the future. There is an urgency now to reclaim that trust."

The dystopian film is set in the year 2034 AD, in a Southeast Asia that hasn't seen the sun in the last 3 years, and is under the rule of madmen, suffering from epidemics, and the loss of millions of people.
