MANILA, Philippines — The Tony Awards were held on Sunday, June 9 (Monday, June 10 in the Philippines) with Hadestown picking up Best Musical and The Ferryman winning Best Play.

Hadestown, a modern take on the underworld myth of Orpheus and Euridyce, also won 7 other awards.

Bryan Cranston took home the Best Actor in a Play for his role in Network. In his acceptance speech, Cranston, known for his role in Breaking Bad, dedicated his award to journalists around the world facing dangers in their profession.

“The media is not the enemy of the people. Demagoguery is the enemy of the people.”

James Corden hosted the 3-hour show at the Radio City Music Hall, New York.
