Boracay, PHILIPPINES – Things heated up Saturday night, April 26, when Sara Polverini and Mauro Lumba were named the winners of this year’s Century Tuna Superbods titles at the Pearl of the Pacific Hotel in Boracay.

Along with the title of Superbods 2014, Sara and Mauro each received P500,000, a year-round supply of Century Tuna and other prizes from major sponsors. Century Tuna brought members of the media to Boracay to witness the culminating events, which also featured appearances from endorsers Anne Curtis and John Lloyd Cruz. Boys Night Out stars Sam YG, Tony Toni, and Slick Rick were also in attendance. 

First runners-up were Marneil Anthony Lim and Alaiza Malinao, while Catherine Almirante and Laurens Tolenaars placed second runner-up.

Special Awards were also given to the following:

  • Beach Bodies: Laurens Tolenaars and Paula Marciano
  • People’s Choice: Diane Tan and Mauro Lumba
  • Congeniality: Marneil Lim and Grace Murillo
  • Transformation Award – Miguel Lasala and Darlene Anderson
  • Superbod Race Winners: Miguel Lasala and Paula Marciano
  • Photogenic: Miguel Lasala and Alaiza Malinao.

A former child actress, Sara said that winning the contest was a big accomplishment for her. Discipline was critical for her and her fellow contestants during the competition. 

“I was very strict with myself since I want to be the best I could be. I joined the competition…might as well give it my best shot,” she said at the event.

A tourism graduate from the University of Sto. Tomas, Mauro said his mother was one of his reasons to win the contest. His mother suffers from multiple sclerosis.

“Basically she (mom) can’t do anything without someone attending to her. That was a big blow to our life…  I want to give back what they gave me,” he said.

As one of the winners, Mauro said that he is definitely opening himself to the huge possibilities that will come with the title.

“If it changes my life, I would gladly take it in. I am just thankful right now and enjoying this moment so alam ko if doors open, I would gladly invest and dedicate to whatever comes to me,” he said.
