MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – Singer Maegan Aguilar is singing a different tune about her father Freddie.

After defending her father last year from criticism over his marriage to a minor, Maegan slammed him for reportedly throwing her out along with partner Ali and their two daughters.

In an interview with Dolly Ann Carvajal of the Philippine Daily Inquirer published on Monday, May 19, Maegan said that trouble started when her father got angry over rotten food that he found in the refrigerator.

“He got mad because the vegetables that he kept in the refrigerator got rotten. I told him I did not touch the veggies because I knew he would get upset,” she told Carvajal.

“He also flared up because I hadn’t paid the P1,500 I borrowed from him. I used the money to buy diapers and milk for Mahi.”

“I get only P4,000 as salary in [the bar] Ka Freddie’s Tomas Morato. Then he gets mad that we [are] always cash-strapped. It’s his fault. I am underpaid,” Maegan said.

“But when it [concerns] the family of his young wife … he sends them P9,000 weekly even if they don’t need the money.  Me, all I got were hurtful words.”

Following the incident, Maegan said she and her family moved in with a bandmate until they can look for a house to stay. 

She added she decided to cut ties with her father since he now has a new family. She also described her father as “selfish man,” and that she is done covering up for him. 

Freddie says…

In a report on ABS-CBN, Freddie Aguilar said he considered it unfortunate that his daughter decided “to take a private matter to the press.”

“I have been supporting my 35-year-old daughter and her family for many years now and have no intention of dragging her through the mud for entertainment’s sake,” he said.

On Maegan’s story that she and her family were thrown out because of rotten vegetables and debt of P 1,500 Aguilar said: “My daughter, her partner, and all the other people living in my house know the truth.” 

Maegan said that her previous statement expressing support for her father “was a complete lie.” She told Carvajal: “I was never in favor [of his marriage to a minor]. I got hurt when he married her without telling me or other family members.” (READ: DSWD, Freddie Aguilar and a minor)

Meanwhile Maegan’s aunt Marlene Aguilar also spoke up on the issue and, judging from the statement, Marlene is blaming her brother’s young wife for the fight.
