MANILA, Philippines – Actor Aljur Abrenica has filed a petition to terminate his contract with GMA-7. 

According to a report from Pep.ph, the actor, who recently starred in Kambal Sirena, went to the Quezon City Hall of Justice on Thursday, July 24 to file a petition of rescission of contract against the network.

Aljur’s contract with the network is until 2017.

He said that it was a difficult decision for him to do this.

“Kaya po ako nandito ngayon… sa totoo nga lang po, e, ayoko nga po sanang umabot sa ganito. Ako po yung huling tao na magdedesisyon na malagay sa ganitong kalagayan,” Aljur said. 

(That’s why I am here today…the truth is I did not want to reach to this point. I am the last person who would decide to be in this type of situation.) 

Aljur also said that he felt he was not given the importance and respect he needed when it came to his career. 

While he may have filed a case against his network, Aljur said he is hoping that the relationship between him and the network is still okay.

Aljur also clarified that there are no offers from other networks. However, he said that there are many things he wants to do with his career, that is not part of GMA’s plans for him.

In the same report, GMA Network has issued a short message on the  matter.

“GMA Network has not yet received a copy of the complaint filed by Mr. Aljur Abrenica. A statement will be issued when we have received and reviewed the contents of the complaint.”

Aljur rose to fame via Starstruck Season 4, where he was declared the Ultimate Hunk. Among the shows he did include Zaido: Pulis Pangkalawan, Dyesebel, All My Life, The Last Prince, and Ilumina. In 2011, he was launched as a leading man via a big role in Machete.

The actor was recently in the headlines after actress Kylie Padilla confirmed that she and Aljur were no longer a couple. -Rappler.com
