Derek Ramsay confirms 2002 marriage
MANILA, Philippines – Actor Derek Ramsay confirmed that he and Mary Christine Jolly were married in 2002.
According to a report from Pep, Derek said in a statement said that he also has an 11-year-old son.
“In the Complaint-Affidavit which is replete with deliberate lies and facts intended to be misleading and deceptive, there are only two things that are true: First, that Mary Christine Jolly and I were married in 2002, a marriage that I was then told, was not valid, for various reasons.
"Atty. Joji Alonso has subsequently explained to me that the information given me about the status of my marriage, is erroneous and that a marriage unless annulled, remains to be valid. Second, that I have an eleven-year old son named Austin Gabriel Ramsay.
'It was only sometime in the early part of August 2011, that I was able to confirm that Austin is indeed my son.
"Since then, I wanted to know my son first and keep my relationship with him, private,” part of Derek’s statement said.
He did not talk about the current status of the marriage in the statement.
Aside from the information provided, Derek denied the accusations filed against him by his estranged wife, referring to her complaint that he violated the Violence Against Women and their Children Act.
In the same report, Derek and his lawyer Atty. Joji Alonso went to the Prosecutor’s Office in Makati to submit their counter affidavit regarding Mary Christine’s complaint.
Mary Christine was represented by her lawyer.
Two weeks ago, the website getitfromboy.net published photos of his wedding, dated 2002, in Bulacan.
In a report aired on Startalk last August 9, Mary Chrstine went to the Makati Regional Trial Court to attend to the case she filed against the actor.
While she has declined to speak to the media, the talk show was able to obtain information cited by getitfromboy.net where she complained that Derek was not giving her and their son financial support. – Rappler.com
