Singer Charice reconciles with mother
The reconciliation comes after mother and daughter did not speak to each other for a year

MANILA, Philippines – More than a year after their estrangement, singer Charice Pempengco has reconciled with her mother Raquel.

According to a report aired on The Buzz Sunday, September 14, Charice posted a photo on her Instagram account showing herself with girlfriend Alyssa Quijano, mother Raquel, and brother Carl. It was reported that the photo was posted Wednesday, September 10.

The caption read: “Monthsary celebration with family. (Also for the people who doubted and thought we wouldn’t be okay. Screw you all. Now please shut up, move on and let us live our lives as one happy family).”

In a statement send to The Buzz, Glenn Aldueza, Charice’s manager confirmed that the singer and her mother have reconciled.

The mother-and-daughter tandem sings happy songs again, so to speak. In fact, Raquel was the one who picked up Charice and her girlfriend Alyssa in the airport last September 6. Charice was gone for 5 months doing concerts in America, Australia and Canada as part of her world tour. Charice now lives in her mother’s house in Cabuyao, Laguna,” the statement read.

Charice and her mother did not speak to each other after the singer admitted last year in The Buzz that she was a lesbian.

Charice’s mother had also expressed her disappointment over Charice’s relationship with Alyssa Quijano. In an interview with Pep last January, Raquel Pempengco said that at that time, she felt Alyssa was just using Charice.

Since then, Charice has been more vocal about Alyssa, and has even celebrated her coming out last June on Instagram.

“It’s been a year since I came out. (June 2, 2013) This day is not just for me but for all the people all over the world who had the strength to come out and be who they are.

“To others who still feel scared to tell the world, it’s okay. We’ve all been there and one day, you will find the strength to tell everyone. Be strong and always know that YOU, my friend, are not alone.”

The singer closed with the hashtag #comingoutDAY.  – Rappler.com
