Suspect in killing of Cherry Pie Picache’s mother arrested

MANILA, Philippines –  The police have apprehended the main suspect in the killing of Zenaida Sison, the mother of actress Cherry Pie Picache. 

According to a report from ABS- CBN, Michael Flores, 29 years old, was arrested through the joint efforts of the Sta. Rosa and Quezon Police together with the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).

A report from GMA News said that Flores went through “medical procedures.”

Ferdinand Calunsag, the lawyer for the family of the actress, said they will “file the case at the soonest possible time.”

Prior to the arrest, the actress posted a photo on her Instagram account of the suspect and the details, with this caption: “Please share this among your network and help us find the criminals behind the violent crime against our mother. We will be grateful for any information that will lead us to justice. Thank you.”

She later posted another photo with the words “Praise God” on it, with this caption: “In behalf of my family, ang aming taos pusong pasasalamat sa lahat ng tulong ninyo!!! On September 19, The actress found her mother dead, with stab wounds all over her body, when she went to the house to check on her during the typhoon. In an earlier interview, Picache’s friend Peter Serrano said the actress got worried when her mother did not answer her calls.

The family issued a statement, saying that they will leave the investigation to the police.

The actress also went to the National Bureau of Investigation last September 25 to seek help in the investigation.

Police believed that the case is connected to robbery, when jewelry and money went missing inside the home of the victim. – Rappler.com
