Maegan Aguilar: Live-in partner has a dark side

MANILA, Philippines – Maegan Aguilar finally spoke up after photos of her wearing a neck brace surfaced online. Her good friend Maria Silorio said Maegan was physically hurt by her live-in-partner.

In an interview with ABS-CBN, Maegan said that on Friday, November 7, her band was one of the performers in a bistro in Quezon City.

Because her live-in-partner Ali Sanchez, who was in the same bistro, was drunk according to Maegan, she told him to go home. He supposedly told her that he should be given a “proper good-bye.”

Maegan said that on her way home, she told the security in her condominium unit not to let Ali in. As she and her friend were about to eat, she was surprised to see Ali standing near the dining table. He asked her not to end their relationship. 

Things went wrong when she went down to the condominium lobby as Ali ran after her and squeezed her against a gate.

“Nabugbog na talaga ako,” she said. (I was really beaten up.)

“Kinarga ako, bumagsak ako, tumama itong right hip ko sa floor. Naipit ‘yung kamay ko. Nahubad ‘yung damit ko dahil naka-tube dress ako, kasi galing pa akong gig,” she said. (I was carried, I fell, my right hip hit the floor. My hand got caught. I was stripped off my dress, which was a tube dress I wore to the gig.)

Maegan said she was granted a 15-day protection and was willing to press charges, but Ali’s parents pleaded her not to. But 24 hours after the confrontation, Ali’s mother was said to have refuted Maegan’s claim that she was hurt by her son. 

“Nasaktan ako doon, kasi kaya lang naman hindi nakakulong si Ali, dahil pinakiusapan niya [ako],” Maegan said. “Ano bang gusto niya makita sa akin? Gusto niya bang ma-comatose ako? Iyon pa ‘yung gusto niyang makita before she says that her son hurt me?”

(I was really hurt because the reason Ali was not jailed was because she made a request. What does she want to see? Does she want me to become comatose? Is that what she wants to see before she says that her son hurt me?)

Maegan said that Ali’s mom defended him because she does not know he has a “dark side” when he gets drunk.

“She knows that he has a dark side, but the dark side that they know, hindi nananakit (does not hurt anyone). But this was dati pa (before). Ngayon, nananakit na siya eh (Now he turns violent),” she said.

Maegan said that she still loves Ali but that it’s not enough especially when he hurts her.

Asked if she would seek out her father Freddie Aguilar after severing ties with him, Maegan said no. 

“I can’t and I won’t, kasi, sorry, they’re probably celebrating right now because of this tragedy in my life. That’s what I think. Maybe masaya sila, kasi ang tingin nila dito, ‘Karma ito sa kanya,'” she said. (Maybe they are happy because they see it as my karma.) – Rappler.com
