Kathryn Bernardo launches first album
For her new album, Kathryn duets with Daniel Padilla in 'Got To Believe In Magic'

MANILA, Philippines – Teen Queen Kathryn Bernardo has launched her new self-titled album under Star Music.

In an interview with reporters during the launch Tuesday, November 25, Kathryn said it was a dream come true for her to come out with an album.

Eto na talaga.  Masayang-masaya ako,” she said.

(This is it. I am very happy.)

According to Kathryn she was very hands-on in the making of her album, making sure that it contains a lot of easy-listening and feel-good songs.

“Since this is my first time in recording, I trusted Star Music with the song choices because they surely know better what fits my voice.”

Among the songs included in Kathryn’s album are three revivals – Sharon Cuneta’s “Mr. DJ,” Cris Villongco’s “Crush ng Bayan,” and Heart Evangelista’s “Love Has Come My Way.”

When asked about covering one of Sharon’s well-known songs, Kathryn said she hopes the Megastar will like it.

“I’m hoping that if marinig niya (Sharon), matuwa siya and magustuhan niya yung version ko. Kami naman wala kaming masyadong iniba. Mas ginawa lang namin mas modern ang instruments pero yung tono, lyrics are the same.”

(I’m hoping that if she (Sharon) hears it, she will be happy and like my version. We really did not change anything. We just made it modern with the instruments but the tune, lyrics are the same.)

As for Heart’s song, Kathryn said she really loved it before and took the opportunity to sing it when it was presented to her.

“Na excite ako kasi ‘Yung Love Has Come My Way noon ko na siya naririnig nung bata ako. Tapos nung nag-meeting kami sinabi nila yung mga songs na puwede sa akin and prinisent nila yung song, sabi ko na gusto ko siya kantahin, kasi gusto ko si Ate Heart. Nagagandahan ako sa kanya. Very catchy yung song.”

(I was excited because I’ve heard ‘Love has Come My Way’ when I was still young. When we had the meting and they presented the song, I said I wanted to sing it because I like Ate Heart. I find her beautiful. The song is very catchy.)

Other tracks in the album are “Na Sa ‘Yo Din Pala,” “Ikaw Na Nga Yata,” ‘K Tnx Bye, Temporary Deja Vu,” and the carrier single “You Don’t Know Me,” composed by Marion Aunor.  The album also contains Kathryn’s version of Pagdating ng Panahon,” and the popular duet “Got to Believe in Magic” with Daniel Padilla.

Asked about Daniel’s reaction especially with the song “Na Sa ‘Yo Din Pala,” which is said to be an answer to one of Daniel’s song in his album, Kathryn said the Teen King is very supportive.

Natuwa siya and si DJ (Daniel) naman supportive and na eexcite siya kasi alam niya na excited ako na binigay ko ang lahat sa album na eto,” she said.

(DJ is very happy and he’s very supportive. He’s very excited because he knows how excited I am about this album because I gave everything to it.)

Kathryn’s album will be available at all record bars on December 5. The album will be released online by Star Music on November 30. – Rappler.com
