MANILA, Philippines – TV host and bride-to-be Bianca Gonzalez is busier than ever. This time, she’s launched a book called Paano Ba ‘To?! How To Survive Growing Up, dedicated to people in their 20s and 30s.

“Dati (Before), I had this notion that only the literary greats – mga Palanca Awards [winners], yung mga magaling (who are good) could write memoirs. Last year my good friend Liz Uy came out with a book, and soon na realize ko na puwede pala maglabas (and I realized you can come out with one),” she told Rappler during a short chat at her book singing in National Bookstore Trinoma, Sunday, November 30.

Bianca said that the book contains advice not only from her, but also from celebrity friends and experts.

“It’s really hard growing up. It’s really tough, but I am just so lucky that growing up, there were so many amazing people guiding me and giving me advice if I feel na nalolose ako (if I felt I was losing my way.)”

According to Bianca, she conducted a lot of research and started writing the book last December 2013. From the results, a lot of the questions were about love and self-confidence, which she addresses heavily in the book.

“ I conducted several FGDs with groups of friends, people and followers to find out ano ang issues nila and the questions they asked. And based on that ang pinakamakapal (the thickest section) is on love, and self-confidence. Love is always a big issue, and finding yourself, your confidence – everyone can relate to that,” she said.

But Bianca clarifies that she  does not have the answers to every question, thus the help from celebrity friends and experts.

“This book is simply advice that has worked for me and or for my friends, which is why I am sharing it. And a lot of times hindi ko naman masasagot yung mga (I cannot answer all) questions by myself, that’s why the book also has experts’ advice, like life coaches and psychologists. But at the same time, the celebrity friends were also able to share their unique point of view na truly wala ako like wala akong alam sa (that I do not have as much knowledge of ) business and that’s when Tim Yap was able to share. I am not the breadwinner, so Toni [Gonzaga] was able to share. Everyone is inspired by Atom’s [journalist Atom Araullo] life and how he handles things, and Iza’s [Iza Calzado] journey to now.”

She also said that the release of the book was a perfect time before she gets married to JC Intal on December 10.

“I knew I wanted to release the book this year, before getting married, because the statement was I am entering a new chapter in my life and this is what I want to share about when I was single. “

Bianca said that she is looking forward to going around the country and sharing the book with other people. – Rappler.com
