10 amazing ‘Voice PH’ blind auditions

MANILA, Philippines– After weeks of looking for the “voice” to join their teams, the coaches – Lea Salonga, Apl de ap, Sarah Geronimo, and Bamboo have completed their 14 singers who will vie for a spot in the finale of The Voice of the Philippines.

But before the sing-off rounds, which will start on Saturday, December 6, here are 10 amazing blind auditions that definitely caught our attention.

Here they are in no particular order: 

Rence Rapanot – Team Bamboo

 

His crisp, deep, and full voice, his song choice, and the emotional weight that characterized his performance had all 4 judges turning for him. According to his biography, Rence, 22, is from Laguna and is from a family of farmers. A computer technician, Rence loves Filipino music from icons like Joey Ayala and Asin.

In a valiant effort to get Rence to join his team, Apl actually called up Black Eyed Peas singer and friend Will.i.Am – but Rence eventually joined Bamboo’s team. 

Christelle Tiquis – Team Lea

 

Hailing from San Pablo, Laguna, Christelle’s family owns a small tutorial center. She joined The Voice for possible opportunities and to look for her father, who has not returned to them since March of this year.

Alternately going from soft and vulnerable to strong and sure, she made judges notice her via her emotional connection to the song. 

Nino Alejandro – Team Lea 

 

Although he comes from a family of musicians (uncle Hajji, cousin Rachel), Nino wants to make it on his own. By joining the show, he hopes to finally showcase his skills. His “Highway to Hell” had all the judges turning – Bamboo even said that he thought he could learn things from Nino. (READ: Rachel Alejandro on cousin Nino’s ‘Voice PH’ audition)

Alisah Bonaobra – Team Apl de ap

 

Thanks to a foreigner who uploaded a video of her singing the song  “Let It Go,” from Frozen, Alisah Bonaobra found herself becoming famous. Alisah said she joined the show to help her family overcome poverty and to earn enough to go back to school.

Tanya Diaz – Team Bamboo 

 

Tanya Diaz has her family to thank for her love of music, having 3 brothers who influenced her to listen to rock music. According to Tanya, she joined the show to honor her late brother, so that she can continue his legacy. 

Tanya’s growl and vocal control had all four judges turning for her and raring to add her to their teams – but Tanya eventually chose team Bamboo, who said that he was speechless after her performance.

Kai Honasan – Team Bamboo

 

 

The daughter of Sen. Gringo Honasan, Kai, like her siblings, is into music and the arts. Although she has been in the recording industry as an indie artist, Kai wants to challenge herself, and she sees The Voice as an opportunity to share her talent with a larger audience. 

Bradley Holmes – Team Apl de ap

 

Bradley, 31 is a father of 3. He confessed that he got into excessive drinking and drugs when his father died. It was through music that he found the strength to clean himself up and has been working as a vocalist for a band called Wake-Up Call.

Casper Blancaflor – Team Bamboo 

 

Singing “Kisapmata,” 26 year old Elisette “Casper” Blancaflor impressed Bamboo with her vocals. Casper works as a QA Analyst and is also a songwriter. 

Kokoi Baldo – Team Sarah

 

Born in Bacolod City, Juan Manuel “Kokoi” Baldo amazed judges with his unique, powerful voice via his performance of “One Day.” He calls Boracay home and joined the show for the opportunity to provide for his family. 

Daniel Ombao – Team Sarah

 

Daniel’s deep voice and smooth delivery had Bamboo saying his performance was “a hot one” seconds into the performance. The 18-year-old freelance artist joined Sarah’s team.
