What’s in store for ‘Game of Thrones’ season 5?
Watch the short teasers released by HBO

MANILA, Philippines – Over the past few weeks, HBO has released short teasers of the upcoming 5th season of Game of Thrones.

Back in November, the network announced that fans could sign up on a website in order to receive “The Sight,”  the term used for the sneak peaks for the upcoming season.

“The Sight” is one of the main storylines of the A Song of Ice and Fire book series of George R.R Martin – the same one Game of Thrones is based on – and plays an integral role in the character of Bran Stark, who was in the first teaser released. Also included are Arya Stark and a door which is presumed to be in the House of Black and White in Braavos.

On Monday, December 15 (Tuesday, December 16 in the Philippines), HBO alerted those who signed up on the website via text message and Twitter that a new teaser was released, called “The Raven brings the Sight.” The video could only be watched once, though a Reddit user was able to record it:

The video includes fragments of scenes involving Sansa Stark, Tyrion Lannister, Cersei Lannister, the Three-Eyed Raven, a boat being rowed, and a book being snapped shut.

As usual, Game of Thrones left their latest season with a lot of questions.

Tyrion was last seen using a crossbow to kill his father, Tywin Lannister, after killing his former lover, Shay, who had been sleeping with the elder Lannister.

Jon Snow was introduced to Stannis Baratheon, who saved The Night’s Watch up north of the wall from Mance Rayder and his army of wildlings.

Daenerys Targaryen was forced to lock up her dragons in the catacombs after they were responsible for the murder of a young girl.

Arya managed to escape The Hound after he was mortally wounded in a sword fight with Brienne of Tarth, and hitched on a boat to take her to Braavos, which explains the scene involving her and the House of Black and White in the first teaser.

In an interview with Yahoo, Kristian Nairn, who plays Hodor, Bran’s accomplice, said that both his character and Bran’s won’t be part of Season 5, which makes the first teaser curious.

In the final episode of season four, Bran, Hodor, and Meera Reed were saved by The Children of the Forest during battle against undead creatures and takes them to a seer that’s the physical manifestation of the Three-Eyed Raven. Meera’s brother, Jojen, was killed during the fight.

“We have a season off and we have a year’s hiatus, solely because I imagine our storyline is up to the end of the books,” Nairn said.

Martin has already published five – A Game of Thrones, A Clash of Kings, A Storm of Swords, A Feast for Crows, A Dance with Dragons – of the seven books he intends to complete for A Song of Ice and Fire, with a sixth one, Winds of Winter, on the way. – Rappler.com
