Lea Salonga sings ‘I Dreamed a Dream’ with ‘Voice PH’ contestant
Lea shares the stage with a 'Voice' contestant who did not move on to the next round

MANILA, Philippines – World-famous singer Lea Salonga gave one disappointed Voice of the Philippines contestant a major surprise when she gamely went up onstage to sing with her.

Sunday’s (December 28) episode of The Voice of the Philippines showed previously unaired clips from the show’s blind audition stage. Lea sang “I Dreamed a Dream” with one woman who did not make it to the next round.

The song is very special. Lea played Eponine and Fantine, who sang that song in the musical Les Miserables, in the show’s 10th and 25th anniversary concerts respectively, as well as on Broadway.

After mentoring season 1 winner Mitoy Yonting, she became a mentor on The Voice Kids, where her bet Darlene Vibares entered the Final 4. She also toured with Il Divo, and a video of them singing Disney’s “A Whole New World” from Aladdin went viral. (READ: Lea Salonga then and now: 10 amazing moments)

Lea also made a special appearance at the anniversary show of Miss Saigon in London last September, where she shared the stage with the original cast and the new cast, including Filipino Rachelle Ann Go. She also graced the opening of the Theatre at Solaire.

Lea also made showbiz headlines after she tweeted she was upset that someone leaked the results of the battle round of season 2, and when she expressed that Voice Kids runner-up Darren Espanto should have won The Voice Kids. – Rappler.com
