PH stars who died in 2014

MANILA, Philippines – In 2014, we said goodbye to a number of stars who are greatly missed by family, friends, and fans. (READ: In Memoriam: Icons, newsmakers who died in 2014)

Here are some of the Filipino celebrities who died this year. 

JANUARY 

In January, Kuwarta o Kahon host Pepe Pimentel died. According to a report from Pep, a barangay official reported that the 83-year-old host had a heart attack, then hit his head. 

FEBRUARY

Comedians in February mourned the death of Arvin “Tado” Jimenez, who died in a bus accident. The vehicle was bound for Bontoc, Mountain Province. Tado and 13 others died on-site after a GV Florida Transport bus fell into a ravine in Bontoc, Mountain Province. 

The entertainment industry also mourned the death of veteran actor Roy Alvarez, who died due to cardiac arrest. Prior to his death, Roy was seen in the GMA 7 afternoon drama Villa Quintana.

MARCH 

On March 10, character actor Roldan Aquino died after suffering a stroke. He was 65 years old.

JUNE

On June 8, fashion designer Paul Herrera died due to cardiac arrest from meningitis. The news was confirmed by Paul’s brother, John. Friends and colleagues mourned the death of one of the country’s bright talents. An accomplished accessory designer, Paul and John also established the brand House of Herrera. SEPTEMBER

On September 1, fans mourned the death of actor Mark Gil, who died of liver cancer. Family members said that Mark, born Raphael John Eigenmann, requested not to disclose his condition to the public.  

OCTOBER

Comedian Tia Pusit died on October 2. Born Myrna Villanueva, Tia Pusit battled a number of medical issues which included a double bypass surgery. She was 66 years old and was last seen on the show Ikaw Lamang before her death.   

Saying goodbye

This year, many stars also lost people who were dear to them. Sharon Cuneta, who left TV 5 last September, lost her mother Elaine Cuneta on November 5. Mrs. Cuneta died of internal bleeding due to complications arising from abdominal surgery. She would have turned 80 this December. On Instagram, Sharon’s daughter KC Concepcion said that she will miss her grandmother who was always by her side. Sharon thanked everyone for supporting her and her family.

Others who died were Regine Velasquez’s father Mang Gerry in February, Aida Fandialan, Gov. Vilma Santos-Recto’s personal assistant, and Sampaguita actor Ramil Rodriguez.

People were shocked when news broke that Zenaida Sison, mother of actress Cherry Pie Picache, was found dead inside her home on September 19. The suspect, Michael Flores was arrested, weeks after the murder. 

On Christmas day this year, comedian Vice Ganda lost his grandfather Gonzalo Dacumos who was 93 years old. – Rappler.com
