Vice Ganda cheers up Jam Sebastian in hospital visit

MANILA, Philippines – Jam Sebastian, one half of the popular YouTube duo Jamich, got a special visitor Saturday, February 7 – comedian and TV host Vice Ganda.

Jam is battling lung cancer. 

On Instagram, Vice said that he got word Jam wanted to see him, and he obliged. Vice previously interviewed the couple on his show Gandang Gabi Vice.

“He wished to see me again and so I visited him. Thank you so much Lord for allowing me to touch someone’s life today. And also for allowing me to be touched by someone’s journey. Keep the faith Jam. Miracles happen everyday. God bless you!” Vice wrote on Instagram. 

Michelle Liggayu, Jam’s fiancee, also posted about Vice’s visit.

“Priceless yung smile ni Jam. Thank you po @praybeytbenjamin,” Mich said on Instagram. 

“Sobrang priceless ng smile ni Jam kanina. Nag kwento siya kay @praybeytbenjamin eh minsan lang siya makapag salita nang matagal. Nakakatuwa makita siyang ganun. Super happy siya kanina,” she wrote in the caption for an Instavideo, the full version of which she uploaded on Facebook. 

(Jam’s smile was priceless. He and @praybeytbenjamin shared stories, and it’s rare that he can talk for a longer period of time. It’s nice to see him like that. He was really happy.)

Message of healing

Jam also made the effort to post on social media too. In an Instavideo, Jam can be seen greeting Jackie Forster’s young daughter Caleigh, who had earlier sent him an encouraging message. 

“Thank you Kikay Caleigh, & @jackie_forster, you have a very wonderful kids. God bless you and your family,” he wrote in the caption. 

Lifting to God

In an interview on Startalk which aired earlier on Saturday, February 7, Michelle talked about how difficult the journey has been for her and Jam. (READ: Mich Liggayu on Jam Sebastian cancer battle)

“Lahat kami – family, friends – sobrang nade-depress din kaming lahat sa nangyayari kasi alam namin na ito na ‘yung stage na hindi namin na-imagine before na aabot sa ganito,” Michelle said.

(All of us – family, friends – get so depressed about what’s happening because we all know this is the stage that none of us imagined.)

“Sobrang depressing ho talaga. Lately po hindi ko na siya kayang titigan nang matagal kasi hindi matanggap ng puso ko na ganun na ‘yung hitsura niya.”

For Michelle, all she can do now is lift Jam’s situation to God.

“Ako po personally for the past few Sundays na nasa church ako, ‘yun ko pong pinadadasal ko po kay Lord na sabi ko na lahat po linift up ko na po sa Inyo. Kayo na po bahala. Basta alam ko Lord pag nasa Inyo kami, wala namang talo.”

(Personally, for the past few Sundays that I’ve been in church, I pray to Lord and just lift everything to him. I tell him it is up to him. What I know is Lord, if we lift everything to Him, no one loses.)

“Ang mabibigay ko na lang talaga is prayers, bibigay natin lahat sa Kanya, ‘yung pagdadasal sa Kanya na magiging comfortable siya, magkaroon siya ng peace sa puso niya.”

(I can really only pray. We will give everthing to Him, praying that he (Jam) will be comfortable and that he will have peace in his heart.)

The couple will celebrate their 7th anniversary this year. Michelle said she does not know how they will celebrate yet, given his condition.

“Sa nakikita ko po kay Jam, ang hirap na pong sabihin na ganun eh. Kinausap sila ni Jam na nagbibilin na daw po.”

(With what I see with Jam, it’s really hard to say. Jam talked to them [the family], he was already giving them instructions.)

News of Jam’s lung cancer was reported last March 2014. Despite his condition, Michelle never left Jam’s side, accompanying him to his chemotherapy sessions and posting about their updates on Instagram. (READ: Jamich: A love story for keeps)
