Jessy: JM and I aren’t back together

MANILA, Philippines – Actress Jessy Mendiola said that she and ex-boyfriend JM de Guzman have not reconciled despite Jessy watching the movie That Thing Called Tadhana, which JM stars in. (READ: Jessy Mendiola happy for ex-boyfriend JM de Guzman)

Fans speculated about whether they were back together when a photo of Jessy posing next to the movie poster appeared online. 

In an interview with Pep, Jessy said that even if she and JM are no longer together, they are still good friends. (READ: JM de Guzman on rehab, Jessy Mendiola, and second chances)

“Hindi, hindi kami nagkabalikan,” Jessy said. (We did not get back together.)

“Solid lang talaga yung friendship namin. Sobrang solid. Mabait, sobrang bait [ni JM], kaya nga, ever since, wala naman akong masasabing masama sa kanya.”

(Our friendship is solid. Really solid. He [JM] is very nice that’s why I cannot say anything bad about him.)

“Kasi matagal na rin naman kaming nag-uusap na ni JM, ever since nung birthday niya last year.” (JM and I have been talking for a long time, ever since his birthday last year.)

“Ever since, nag-reconnect na kami as friends, so I don’t see why people make a big deal,” she said. (Ever since we reconnected as friends.)

According to Jessy, she and JM were not the only ones who watched the movie as they had other friends with them. It was during that time that one of them ask her to pose near the movie poster. (Movie review: That Thing Called Tadhana)

Although she and JM are friends, Jessy said that she is not ready for a new relationship. 

“No, I’m not yet ready.

“Siguro kasi mas natutunan ko munang mas mahalin ang sarili ko. At least ngayon, when I talk to him (JM), we both know our priorities, our goals,” she said. (I guess I am learning to love myself more. At least now, when I talk to him, we both know our priorities.)

And as for the possibility of her and JM working together, Jessy said:  “Okay lang. May mga times nga na dapat gagawa kami ng MMK  (Maalaala Mo Kaya) or, like, guestings together, pero nauudlot lagi.” (It’s okay. There are instances that were suppose to do MMK or, like, guestings together but it did not push through.)
