Jamich’s love story, in Jam Sebastian’s own words
'Ang relasyon na nagsimula sa di ganun kasiryoso ngayon panghabang buhay na,' says Jam in a December Instagram post reflecting on his relationship with Mich

MANILA, Philippines – Jam Sebastian, who charmed social media users with romantic YouTube videos with real-life girlfriend Mich Liggayu, died of lung cancer Wednesday, March 4.

It’s been an approximately year-long battle for Jam, who was diagnosed mid-March 2014.

Their videos explored romance in the different stages – just starting out, hurdles in the relationship, fights in different degrees, heading towards a breakup. True to their roles as social media influencers and staying upbeat through what seemed like an impossible ordeal, Jam and Mich continued to update fans of his condition through the year via Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. Below is a December 4 post from Jam, looking back on his relationship with Mich – they’ve been a couple since 2008. We’ve posted this in full, in memory of Jam – whose tandem with Mich had fans sighing, smiling, and laughing over the years. The lengthy caption was accompanied by the photo below:

Nalungkot ako bigla nung nakita ko ‘to. Ang dami na naming pinagdaanan. Sobrang dami.

Naranasan namin tumakas, mag-cutting, mag-commute, mag-jeep, mag-bus palagi.

Grabe!

(I suddenly felt sad when I saw this. We’ve been through so much. So much. The relationship started like puppy love. She was still in school. Her whole side of the family didn’t like me.

We experienced escaping, cutting [classes], commuting, taking jeepneys, always taking buses. We ate what our funds could afford. Until we became more comfortable, we had a future. We got to buy a car together, go where we wanted, the relationship became legitimate in all respects, we became known in some way, gained direction in life, lived in a condo, left the condo, able to rent our house now.

The biggest challenge, after all we’ve been through, is what’s happening now. I’m sick and I don’t know how to go on. I could still drive [in this picture]. Now, I have a hard time even just standing.

We’ve been together over a number of years. She proposed. Gosh!

The relationship that started out as not-so-serious, is now one that’s forever. Lord, I want to live and continue reaching for my dreams with this woman. Lord, that’s my plan. It’s really hard now. Give me the strength to go through this. There are so many things I still want to do with my life! It feels good to live!) – Rappler.com
