MANILA, Philippines – X Factor New Zealand judges Natalia Kills and Willy Moon were recently kicked off the show for comments they made about a 25-year old contestant.
In the video, 25-year old Joe Irvine performed a rendition of “Cry Me A River” on the show. Although judge Stan Walker commended his performance, Kills and Moon viewed it differently.
“As an artist who respects creative integrity and intellectual property, I am disgusted at how much you copied my husband. From the hair, to the suit, do you not have any value or respect for originality? You’re a laughing stock, it’s cheesy, it’s disgusting, I personally found it absolutely artistically atrocious, ” she said, referring to the matching suits and ‘do of Irvine and Kills’s husband Moon.
She didn’t stop there. “I am embarrassed to be sitting here in your presence, having to even dignify you with an answer of my opinion,” she said.
Husband Willy Moon went in for the kill and likened Irvine to killer Norman Bates from Psycho. “To me it just seems a little bit cheap and absurd. It’s like Norman Bates dressing up in his mother’s clothing. It’s just a little bit creepy. “I feel like you’re going to stitch someone’s skin to your face and then kill everybody in the audience.”
Natalia finished with: “I’m going to say it. It’s disgusting. You make me sick. It’s absolutely disgusting. You have no identity. I can’t stand it. I’m ashamed to be here,”
Joe, clearly uneasy, replied with, “I think I look good tonight.”
But Natalia replied that he only looked good because Irvine was dressed exactly like Moon.
Fellow judge Melanie Blatt rushed to the defense of Irvine, and retorted, “Actually, you’re dressed better than her husband.”
Off the show: ‘effective immediately’
In a statement to MTV UK, the show’s producer Mark Weldon said they completely disapproved of the feedback the couple gave to Irvine, saying:
“Last night on X Factor both Kills and Moon made comments that were completely unacceptable. While the judges on X Factor are expected to provide critiques of the performances, we will not tolerate such destructive tirades from any of the judges.Contestants put their all into this competition and they should expect to receive feedback and criticism that is professional and constructive. We no longer have confidence that Kills and Moon are the right people to perform the role of X Factor judges and they will leave the show, effective immediately.”
Although the pair has been kicked off, Natalia tweeted her message of thanks for her fans who supported her, saying:
I love you guys, thanks for your support & understanding my passionate opinions! You know what they say about me… https://t.co/DNBksvmYWM

On the other hand, Stan Walker said that fighting fire with fire is not the solution, saying:
