MANILA, Philippines – (UPDATED) Actress Melissa Mendez apologized to Rey Pamaran, the man she had an altercation with on a plane last week.

Melissa posted the message on her Instagram account.

“Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that- Martin Luther King Jr,” the caption read.

Rey, however did not accept Melissa’s apology. According to a report from Pep, on his Facebook account, Rey said he was giving Melissa another chance.

“Reading the response of the supposedly ‘public apology’ of Ms. Mendez, I immediately made up my mind to pursue my cases against her. I was hoping for a more heartfelt reply, where she would not only apologize but also own up to the lies that she said on TV to defend herself while destroying my reputation,” Rey wrote.

“However in the spirit of the coming Holy Week, I am giving Ms. Mendez one more chance to clear EVERYTHING IN DETAIL, including all the lies that she said about the incident. My lawyer, Atty. Fortun, will be filing the cases tomorrow so I guess that’s about the time that she has left. I think this is not too much to ask. And please do it on TV, because that is where you destroyed my name. Making statements thru social media just adds insult to injury.”

Melissa was kicked off a plane on Friday, March 20, after allegedly attacking Rey, a friend of Philippine rugby team member Andrew Wolff, and flight attendants. But she later came out with her side of the story that same evening, where she denied the claims of Wolff, who documented the event on his Instagram. In that report, she said that she slapped, not punched, Rey, and that she didn’t hurt any of the flight attendants.

Andrew meanwhile said that contrary to what Melissa said on a TV interview, they never bullied or disrespected her. Rey also stood by his story. – Rappler.com
