Zayn Malik in One Direction: 5 unforgettable moments

MANILA, Philippines – We still can’t get over the fact that Zayn Malik left British boyband One Direction, a move that shocked Directioners all over the world. 

The 22-year-old, who had fans swooning left and right, ended his journey with members Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne, and Niall Horan on Wednesday, March 25, when he announced his departure.

Let’s look back at some of Zayn’s most memorable moments with the band: 

1. Zayn’s The X Factor UK audition

 

The boys of One Direction started out as solo artists who auditioned on The X Factor UK in 2010. Here’s a video of teenage Zayn who scored 3 yeses from judges Louis Walsh, Nicole Scherzinger, and Simon Cowell with his rendition of Mario’s “Let Me Love You.”

2. Zayn Malik’s falsettos

In this video, the boys play Hollywood film company members who plan on making a hit movie for One Direction. Zayn’s role in the music video was sexy assistant Veronica, who says “One Direction is here to see you” and he pulled it off really well!

5. Zayn buys a house for his mother

 

In this scene from the group’s movie This Is Us, Zayn surprised his mother Trisha by buying her a dream mansion in their hometown of Bradford. His mom phoned him in tears, saying, “I know that you always used to say, ‘I’ll get you a house one day when I’m older’. But thank you for what you’ve done for us. I’m so proud of you.”

Zayn, who was also trying to hold back tears, replied, “Well, get off the phone then before I start crying.” How sweet!

The music video had the band recreating their childhood photos – along with their family members! There’s one scene where Zayn shares a tender moment with his little sister. Aw!

A beach, 5 boys, and girls who don’t know they’re beautiful – where would One Direction be without this first big song? This was their first hit single post-X Factor from their album Up All Night.

BONUS 3: Zayn Malik’s funny moments

 

Here’s a compilation of Zayn’s hilarious moments, including his signature catchphrase “Vas happenin!” and telling viewers how to spell his name right. But what really killed us was this line said during an interview: “I wouldn’t change anything ’cause I love my life.” Sigh.
