Destiny’s Child reunites for surprise performance at Stellar Awards

MANILA, Philippines – The stars who at one point made up Destiny’s Child – megastar Beyonce Knowles, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams – reunited for a surprise performance at the 30th annual Stellar Awards held at the Orleans Arena, Saturday, March 28 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

According to a report from Rolling Stone, the ladies performed the song “Say Yes,” a song from Michelle’s 4th studio album Journey to Freedom.  The video features Beyonce and Kelly.

The trio’s surprise performance is a gem – they previously performed together publicly during Beyonce’s Super Bowl performance in 2013.  

“Say Yes” was nominated for 3 categories at the Stellar Awards: Urban/Inspiration Single of the Year, Music Video of the Year and Song of the Year.  Michelle was nominated for Female Vocalist of the Year category for her gospel album Journey to Freedom. 

According to the same article, Michelle said they had fun making the music video. 

“It was so much fun. It was like we were little kids again,” Michelle said in a Rolling Stone article.  “I have their back and they have mine. They have showed themselves to be loyal to me time after time. They have proven they are my sisters time and time again.”

Destiny’s Child was one of the most popular female groups back in the ’90s and early 2000s, with songs such as “Say My Name,” “Survivor,” and “Bootylicious.” The group later disbanded, with each member later making a name for herself as a solor artist in the music scene. – Rappler.com
