Game of Thrones has never wavered in addressing love, conflict, death, and loyalty in almost every episode. Season 5’s first episode, which we recently previewed, is no different. (READ: 18 photos: Scenes from ‘Game of Thrones’ season 5)

One might think that a TV show that’s been airing for half a decade might take things down a notch. The producers and writers of Game of Thrones are doing the exact opposite. Character development, story arcs, and the set pieces are all evolving.

If the first episode is a sign of things to come, then brace yourselves for one action-packed winter.

Aptly named, “Wars to Come,” the episode foreshadows a showdown between the noble houses following the high-profile body count last season – Tywin Lannister, Joffrey Baratheon, and Oberyn Martell.

Here are 10 things you can look forward to in the first episode of Season 5. We’ve made sure we don’t give too much away. Click the spoiler button below to check it out!

1.  A family is moving on after a loss.  The whole town is in mourning and will be coming together for a funeral.

2.  There are equal parts nudity and hook-ups.  We will see them all serious and business-like in front of their constituents but then go buck naked once the doors are closed.

3.  Death claims yet another leader. This character will be given a chance to live but chooses to die rather than succumb to a power he or she does not believe in.

4.  Jon Snow is still his heroic and noble self. He tries to save everyone, but can only do so much.

5.  Children are being trained in combat, some already showing potential, while some are seemingly just meant to stay in the sidelines. Maybe swords are like wands – they choose the master, too.

6.  Someone’s childhood will be revisited and this flashback will shed light on his or her desire to be king or queen.

7.  The Mother of Dragons tries to have it all as both a head of state and mother raising “babies.” And it’s looking like the kids are wanting some quality time to play out in the sun.

8.  A wannabe ruler shows power through public execution. Nothing says, ‘I’m in-charge’ like making children watch someone they know and look up to writhe in pain. Right.

9.  One fan-favorite is noticeably absent in this offering.  This character is looming somewhere, waiting for right time to surface.

10.  Tyrion Lannister wallows in his sorrows in style. Being holed up like livestock in transport is no easy feat, and no wonder he just wants to put his feet up and forget the past.

Like fine wine, Game of Thrones just keeps getting better as the years go by.
