‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ sets record for biggest PH opening ‘of all time’

MANILA, Philippines – Walt Disney Studios Philippines has announced that The Avengers: Age of Ultron has grossed a record P339.83 million over 5 days in its opening week in the Philippines.

According to a press release, the movie set a record for the “biggest opening day of all time,” initially held by the movie Man of Steel, and the “biggest Wednesday of all time,” held by Iron Man 3 with P72.74-M.

In the same press release, Walt Disney Studio Philippines said that the opening in the Philippines mirrored the success of the film’s international launch, reported to be at $201.2 million in 44 territories from April 22-26. (READ: What critics are saying about ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’)

SM North Edsa has the biggest share of pie at P19.21 million followed by SM Megamall at P17.90 million, and SM Mall of Asia at P17.43 million.

The cinemas of Trinoma (P10.54 million), SM Cebu (P9.89 million), Glorietta 4 (P8.41 million), SM Southmall (P6.93 million), Eastwood, (P6.04 million), SM Aura (P5.80 million) and SM Clark (5.72 million) round out the top 10. 

Also included in the list are Ayala Cebu, Power Plant, Greenbelt 3, Alabang Town Center, Gateway, Bonifacio High Street, Shang Complex, Market! Market, and Newport Mall.

In the movie, the team composed of Iron Man, Captain America, Hawkeye, The Hulk, Thor, and the Black Widow are back to face the villainous Ultron.
